The 32nd IAACN Scientific Symposium, “Mitigating Neurological and Mental Health Ailments With Clinical Nutrition,” was filled with speakers and exhibitors who brought various insights for helping those suffering from neurological issues such as traumatic brain injuries, autism, ADD/ADHD, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, depression, anxiety, and chronic brain fog, with a tie-in to general brain health.

This year, O’Brien Pharmacy sent pharmacist Omar Hamid, pharmacist Hollie Resseguie, pharmacist Misty Lee, administrative assistant Shana Curtis Webb, and pharmacist, owner, and president of the IAACN Lisa Everett Andersen.

O’Brien Pharmacy was also honored to sponsor Dr. Arden Andersen as a speaker. Dr. Andersen gave a riveting talk on factors leading to neurological issues, with a focus on nutrition, and how to actually obtain usable nutrients. Dr. Emily Guitterez spoke from a pediatrician’s point of view, while Geochemist Ruth Findlay’s expertise on minerals and their topical properties brought a new concept for attendees to consider. Over the three day symposium, we also heard from Dr. Eric Balcavage, Dr. Kelly Halderman, Dr. W.Lee Cowden, Dr. David Brady, PharmD Nayan Patel, and Dr. Kendal Stewart. Last but not least, we were gifted wise words on stress management from Dr. Russell Jaffe.

It was good to see some of our “old friends” among the vendors, and we were able to make new friends, procuring from them new testing products for toxins such as heavy metals.

Next year’s symposium will tackle anti-aging on a cellular level, which will certainly be well attended. The IAACN is currently vetting speakers and exhibitors, so please feel free to contact them with ideas or your own name if appropriate. Remember, you do not need to be a CCN or a member to attend the IAACN scientific symposiums. Having said that, we are sure once you attend, you’ll want to support with your membership the rare quality of educational programing that the IAACN provides. To learn more about becoming a member, attending symposiums, or becoming a CCN, please visit the IAACN website.
