Use 
This medication is commonly used to treat low sex steroid hormones levels, infertility, or the symptoms of low hormones or hormone imbalance, or to maintain a pregnancy. 

Side Effects
Side effects of this medication include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, agitation, depression, acne, change in libido, hirsutism, voice changes, electrolyte retention, change in coagulation time.  If you are using a formulation that is applied to the skin you may experience itching, discomfort, or irritation.  These effects may go away during treatment. Women may experience temporary changes in menstrual flow, breakthrough bleeding & breast tenderness. Progesterone can cause temporary drowsiness. Men may experience chronic priapism (persistent, abnormal erections of the penis, usually accompanied by pain and tenderness). Many side effects are temporary and go away with continued treatment. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your pharmacist or doctor.  

Precautions
Abuse of androgens such as testosterone/DHEA can cause serious side effects such as cardiovascular changes, stroke, hostility, aggression, liver toxicity, structural body changes & male infertility. Signs of hormonal overdose/imbalance are prolonged irritability, aggressive behavior, persistent headaches, insomnia, swelling & weight gain. Do not abruptly discontinue hormones without consulting with your provider or pharmacist as symptoms of withdrawal may occur such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, irritability, loss of appetite, decreased libido & insomnia. Existing disease states may improve. Medications such as antidepressants, drugs for anxiety & insomnia, blood pressure medications & medications for diabetes may need lower dosages. Consult your provider or pharmacist if any of these conditions occur or persist: skin irritation or discoloration, nausea, vomiting, acne, headache/migraines, yeast infection, itching, rash, depression, anxiety, an increase/decrease in periods, missed periods, agitation, hirsutism, clitoral enlargement,or voice changes. If any current symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear, or if you become pregnant, consult with your provider or pharmacist. If this medication is different in appearance, texture, color, etc. From what you expected, please call the pharmacy.  

Directions
For topical preparations, apply to skin as directed. Note dosage directions on your medication and device instructions accompanying this material. Allow at least 15 for the medication to absorb before coming into contact with others and 2 hours before showering, swimming, or bathing. Wash hands with warm, soapy water after applying. For vaginal preparations, apply internally and/or externally as directed. Note dosage directions on your medication and device instructions accompanying this material. Allow to absorb for at least 1 hour before intercourse. Wash hands before and after use. You may use a sanitary napkin but not a tampon immediately after use. 

Storage 
Caution: package may not be childproof. Store at room temperature. Exposure to heat may cause melting. If melted in wrapper, refrigerate to harden. Do not flush unused medications or pour down a sink or drain.
