DHEA/Testosterone Troches

Use 
This medication is commonly used to treat low sex steroid hormones levels, infertility, or the symptoms of low hormones or hormone imbalance. 

Side Effects
Side effects of this medication include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, agitation, depression, acne, chronic priapism (persistent, abnormal erections of the penis, usually accompanied by pain and tenderness), change in libido, hirsutism, voice changes, electrolyte retention, change in coagulation time.  If you are using a formulation that is applied to the skin you may experience itching, discomfort, or irritation. These effects may go away during treatment.  If they continue or are bothersome, check with your pharmacist or doctor. 

Precautions
Contact your physician as soon as possible if you experience frequent or persistent erections of the penis, nausea, vomiting, change in skin color, ankle swelling, or headache.  If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your physician. Abuse of androgens such as testosterone/DHEA can cause serious side effects such as cardiovascular changes, stroke, hostility, aggression, liver toxicity, structural body changes & male infertility. Signs of hormonal overdose/imbalance are prolonged irritability, aggressive behavior, persistent headaches, insomnia, swelling & weight gain. Do not abruptly discontinue hormones without consulting with your provider or pharmacist as symptoms of withdrawal may occur such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, irritability, loss of appetite, decreased libido & insomnia. Existing disease states may improve. Medications such as antidepressants, drugs for anxiety & insomnia, blood pressure medications & medications for diabetes may need lower dosages. If this medication is different in appearance, taste, texture, color, etc. From what you expected, please call the pharmacy.  

Directions 
Dissolve between upper cheek & gum; do not suck on or chew like candy. You may alternate sides of mouth with each dosing. Melting begins at 95 degrees f. Regular blood tests are recommended to help with dosage adjustments.  

Storage
Caution: package may not be childproof. Store at room temperature. Exposure to extreme heat may cause the troche to melt. Colder temperatures will cause hardening and prolong the time it takes for the troche to melt in the mouth. Do not flush unused medications or pour down a sink or drain.
