This year’s seminar was a nice way to help keep us focused on the political issues we face and what we can do about it, as well as provide support to others pharmacists and technicians, enabling them to do the same.

“Think Next” was this year’s PCCA International Seminar title, and it certainly set the stage for the event. Every attendee had opportunities to experience both new ideas to explore and tried and true concepts to share. For Lisa Everett Andersen, RPh, CCN, and owner of O’Brien Pharmacy, and her assistant, Shana Curtis Webb, it was four days of networking with old and new friends, as O’Brien Pharmacy has been a member with PCCA for almost as many years as its existence. Beyond the scheduled speaker events, they attended a concierge dinner, as well as a breakfast, which Lisa helped sponsor, for Congressman Morgan Griffith from Virginia. Congressman Griffith was generous with his time and open with answering many questions about the state of our government, especially in how it pertains to pharmacy and compounding. We are very happy to have his continued support.
As they always do, the PCCA staff put on a show, from the DJ spinning music between speakers to the easily accessed exhibitor area. The final night of the seminar was a little more special than usual this year. We all celebrated CEO Dave Sparks’ 80th birthday with a 1950’s dance and dinner. Almost everyone dressed the part, including Lisa, who won 2nd place for best costume!
As we wrap up this busy conference season and head into the holiday season, this seminar was a nice way to help keep us focused on the political issues we face, what we can do about it, as well as provide support to others pharmacists and technicians, enabling them to do the same.
